Javier Montes Pita is the Head of Retail in ING Bank Romania since April 2018. From this position, Javier is leading the transformation to make ING a dominant leader of mobile banking in Romania. Levering on the best client experience in the market and a strong brand, he is contributing to achieve record growth figures in primary customers, market share and returns.

Javier started his career in the Finance department of ING Direct Spain more than 17 years ago. He was part of the team that transformed ING Direct from a Savings Bank into a Primary Bank by launching the Payment Account in 2005.

In 2006, he embarked in his first international assignment as Customer Intelligence Manager at the Head Office of ING Direct. Upon returning to Spain 2 years later, he headed Savings and Investment Products and afterwards Customer Strategy and Campaign Management. Since 2012, Javier was member of the Retail management team in ING Spain, responsible for Digital, Customer Experience and Assisted Channels.Over the years, Javier defined and managed the digital transformation roadmap of ING Spain, with outstanding impact in terms of customer engagement, recommendation and commercial results. When deciding to move to Romania, Javier counted with the support of his wife and his three children, that joined him in this exciting experience in Bucharest.
