Business Development Manager WDP România

Background

As a Dutch citizen, Gijs holds a Master of Science in real estate management obtained at the Eindhoven University of Technology in the Netherlands. His working career started at the research & strategy department of ING Real Estate Investment Management (ING REIM). In 2005 he moved into CEE and held various positions in that region both on the transactional and asset management side with companies such as ING REIM (later acquired by CBRE and becoming CBRE Global Investors), JLL (managing director Romania), Nepi Rockcastle (head of investments), CBRE (head of investment properties), CTP and now WDP. Gijs has been studying and later working in Romania, except for some intermezzos in the Netherlands, the Czech Republic and Hungary, since 2000. 

Current Role

At WDP, Gijs is responsible for business development at WDP Romania. His responsibilities include the sourcing of new development lands, the acquisition of income producing assets (whether or not through a sale and leaseback) as well as build to suit projects.

WDP Romania 2021/2022

In the past years, WDP continued its growth in Romania both through various developments (extensions of existing tenants as well as new projects) as well as through acquisitions of existing assets (in Bucharest, Dej, Baia Mare, Targu Lapus, and Arad). Furthermore, the company increased its strategic landbank in the north of Bucharest through two major land acquisitions.

WDP is one of Europe’s leading industrial / logistics developer / investors. WDP Romania aims to continue to grow its portfolio both through development as well as through acquisition. With WDP being well capitalized, the company can easily afford to keep its impressive growth pace of recent years (several EUR 100Ms per annum).
