Co-founder & President Ecommerce Europe
Wijnand Jongen has been an essential part of Ecommerce Europe since its foundation in 2012. Mr. Jongen is one of the co-founders of the European digital e-commerce Association, Chairman of its Executive Committee and member of the Board of Directors. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in retail and e-commerce.
Mr. Jongen has been working in the e-commerce industry since 1995, first as a co-founder and CEO of the virtual shopping comparison site Macropolis. He founded the Dutch e-commerce association Thuiswinkel.org, of which he has been CEO since 2000. He is a member of the Strategic Committee of FIRA, a global alliance of retail industry associations based in Washington DC.
He is the bestselling author of the book 'The End of Online Shopping: the future of Retail in an always connected world', translated into 10 languages and released in some 20+ countries.
Wijnand attended the University of Amsterdam, as well as the Randolph-Macon College and Averett University in the United States. He earned his Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Averett University (1993) and a doctoral degree in Educational Studies at the University of Amsterdam (1986). His work has guided him through several sales, consultancy and management positions in the Netherlands and the United States.
